The next ORCA presentation on the “Technical Assessment of Hybrid Powertrains for Energy-Efficient Heavy-Duty Vehicles” will take place at the Transport Research Arena (TRA) on 17 April in Vienna, Austria.

Topic: Technical Assessment of Hybrid Powertrains for Energy-Efficient Heavy-Duty Vehicles

Date & time: 17 April, 15:15 to 16:45

SpeakerProf. dr. Noshin Omar, VUB

Location: TRA 2018, Vienna

TRA is an annual conference for stakeholders from industry and academia as well as for public authorities and decision makers to discuss research, innovation and policy, including basic research, application-oriented engineering and social aspects. This year it will be held between 16-19 April in Vienna, Austria and will focus on the “Digital Era for Transport” and its new connected themes: New Mobility, Digitisation, Decarbonisation and new Research Strategies and business models.

On 17 April, in the session on “New Concepts of Advanced Propulsion Systems: Design & Demonstrators” from 15:15 to 16:45 the ORCA project results will be presented by Prof. dr. Noshin Omar from Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB). The presentation on the “Technical Assessment of Hybrid Powertrains for Energy-Efficient Heavy-Duty Vehicles” will give insight into the approach used for the design optimization of heavy vehicles such as urban buses and delivery trucks as a part of the ORCA project. A methodology to find the optimal combination of hardware components and energy management strategy with the aim of reducing the total cost of ownership will be presented, together with its use cases.
